It is a very common mistake for people who start working out to struggle with weight loss because they are eating too much. The common belief is “the more I exercise, the more I can eat”. Having this attitude will sabotage your weight loss efforts. The problem with this belief is that even though you may be working out every day, eating those excess calories is just like erasing all of the hard work you have been putting in at the gym. I've even heard people say that they do not work out because they fear it will make them more hungry. Contrary to this belief, exercise will reduce hunger. It is a proven fact that during exercise, our brains do not send hunger signals. Make sure that you as you continue to exercise, you continue to watch your portion sizes so that you will continue to see results!

A very common human need is to be rewarded. No matter what the age. As youngsters, we were rewarded by our parents with gifts, accolades and most certainly foods. As adults, the tradition continues…we tend to build food or alcohol into our self-reward systems. Tough day at work? You deserve those 2 glasses of wine. Successful business week? You deserve that big dessert at the restaurant. Finish the 10K race? You deserve that pancake and biscuit breakfast.
Obviously, building reward systems around high-caloric food or drinks will derail your efforts to look younger, be healthier and wear those great clothes. Learn how to reward yourself in other ways. A ew item of clothes or jewelry…a massage therapy…something other than calories.
