The
SP System's Transitional Diet Plan™ is our unique and extremely
effective 3-phase diet that begins as a higher protein, lower carbohydrate
diet and modifies with higher carbohydrate/fat levels over the 12
weeks. We do this because dietary carbohydrates that are not required
immediately for energy are converted to glycogen and then fat as
a source of energy for the body. If we reduce the amount of carbohydrate
in the diet ultimately converted to fat, the existing levels can
be burned off with exercise without further accumulation. Thus,
it will be easier to lose weight.
Our clinical studies show weight loss averages of 2.5 pounds per week
during phase 1 with a range of 2-4 pounds lost per week. During phase
2 and 3, weight loss ranges from 1-3 pounds per week. Total weight
loss of course depends upon your commitment to stick to it and exercise
to burn calories. There are many benefits to a transitional diet plan
such as this. First, it helps to modify behavior and teach portion
control. It also aids in the selection of appropriate and healthful
foods for long-term weight control. We provide sample daily meal plans
to guide meal choices.
Ancillary benefits that may be seen with a diet such as this may be:
avoidance of empty calories and increased nutritional value of daily
intake of food; improvement in the balance of the diet, reduced food
cravings, increased energy, reduction in cholesterol levels; and enhancement
of heart health.
We do not promote strictly a high protein, low fat or low carbohydrate diet as
a well-balanced diet is necessary for long-term weight control. Many times when
a forbidden food group is reintroduced, weight gain is experienced. That is why
a weight loss program that mimics normal eating habits will be the most successful.
