The Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss Blog: Dreams

Last night I went to a function that was hosted by the alumni association of SUNY Binghamton, where I went for my undergraduate degree in biochemistry. The President of the university was there and I was very impressed with his goals and missions for the university. For many of us, college was truly one of the best 4 year periods of our lives. I was thinking a bit last night during the event about what my dreams were as an 18 year old guy. Did I see myself in private medical practice in Burke Virginia? Did I see myself as a father? Did I see myself waking up at 5 AM and writing a daily blog and erasing “comments” from bloggers representing other weight loss programs that try to post their sh–t on our website blog? (two this morning already…note to you bloggers out there paid by these scam weight loss companies: GET LOST) What becomes our dreams when we reach middle age? Surely, our dreams become focused on our last remaining years on this earth and what we hope happens to us. Good health, seeing the success of our children and grandchildren, not experiencing our last years in any pain or suffering, etc. Well, here it goes: your successful weight loss efforts will allow your dreams to become reality as opposed to a nightmarish ending. Dementia, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes, etc…all of these will indeed make your dreams of health and happiness disappear and replaced by the nightmare of pain and suffering. Although morbid, think about these issues the next time you are tempted to drink the wine, eat the “goodies” or otherwise slip back to the old behaviors that feel good on the immediate basis but will make your dreams disappear.
