The Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss Blog: Mindless Eating
I believe we are all guilty, at times, of “mindless eating”. This is meant to describe a situation in which the person keeps eating without even thinking about it. Classic example? Popcorn at a movie theatre. For two hours straight, the person with that oversized popcorn bowl is going “hand to mouth” over and over and over again. The mind and concentration are engrossed in the movie so the act of eating repetitively is “mindless”. Clearly, distracted eating behaviors exacerbate weight control issues, so Posner’s advice: Do not place yourself in situations where mindless eating may occur.
