The Serotonin-Plus Weight Loss Blog: WWPS

First, thanks to GNM and SH for reminding me about Art Fleming being the gentleman to host the original Jeopardy gameshow.  In response to the question about the “Food Pyramid” recommending by the World Health Organization and other government agencies:  Ridiculous!  55-70% carbs?  Only 10-15% protein?  Fats higher than protein?  This is antiquated, false and should not be followed for longterm weight loss success.

Okay, new game today:  Have you heard the expression or see the teeshirts that say “WWJD?”  This implies that before you commit any act, ask yourself the question, “what would Jesus do?”  Clearly, taking the high-road and completely ethical behavior would govern each and every one of your actions if you took the time to think about how Jesus would have addressed the same situation.  So, now let me ask you all to spend one week doing “WWPS?”  This means that before every eating/drinking act or exercise act (or lack thereof) ask yourself the question: “What would Posner say?” If you know that Posner would say: “Are you seriously considering eating/drinking that and do you have any idea as to how that will damage your weight loss efforts this week?” then do NOT do that act.  If you are considering foregoing that workout at the gym, then hear in your brain Posner saying: “Get off you a– and get to the gym”  Try one week of playing “WWPS” and see if you have a very successful weight loss week.  I bet you will!  And, oh, by the way, notice the game is not “WWPD” because often what Posner DOES is not what he would want to have his patients do  (and yes Frank and John, that was for you, who goaded me into slices of pizza in New York)

That is so funny you should write about WWPS. Just the other day I was thinking WWPD. Your program has made such a difference in our lifestyle that why do I feel you are there when we are making choices of what to put in our mouths? I do admit to not making the best decisions at times just as you have. you have put it in our heads to be thinking about the choices whether they are good or not the best. You have taught us well. Sometimes we get off track but there is always a way to get back. Thanks for taking the time to write this every day. I’m sure it’s just like exercising…sometimes you just don’t feel like it!
