Are The Cards Stacked Against You?

We are in Las Vegas for a few days and everywhere you turn, gambling is at your fingertips. I ventured into the Sports Book and looked at the odds of making bets on pretty much every sport imaginable. From horse racing to football to college basketball and every other sport, you can make bets. There is not only betting what team will win but also you can make bets on whether the two teams combined will score more or less than a certain amount of points in a half or the entire game.

Moving over to the black jack table, unlike betting on sports where you really cannot affect the outcome, at the table games you can enhance your odds of winning by knowing how to play the game. For example, in blackjack, if you know when/how to split, double down, take a card vs. holding, surrendering, etc., you will increase your odds of winning. From my reading, it appears that if you play exactly as you should the odds are 48% for you, 52% for the casino. This is one of the best “odds” games offered up, hence the popularity.

So now we turn to the weight control casino. Here is the analogy: First, go in with the realization that the odds are against you losing weight and keeping it off. Genetic factors, metabolism slowdown and all the myriad of reasons previously discussed in this blog are what stack the cards against you. However, if you play the “cards” exactly as you should (follow the dietary plans, keep alcohol intake minimal/none, come in for your monthly FREE body scans post-program, engage in SeroFit maintenance, etc) then you do, in fact, have a chance of “winning:, i.e. losing the weight and maintaining the healthy/happy weight.

Yes, casinos are huge and opulent because there are more losers than winners in the big picture. BUT, there are some people that walk away as winners. In our weight casino analogy, despite the cards being stacked against you, a person can still wind up a permanent loser (of the weight).
