Does Anything Good Happen After Midnight?

Many times during a given year, sensational stories occur about some famous athletes, movie stars and/or politicians that are involved in some really bad occurrence that occurs:  This could be an altercation in a public place, a DUI arrest, a drug bust, a physical abuse case or other really toxic situations that bring great harm to the person’s future reputation and/or employment.  Most often these events occur late at night or the wee hours of the morning.  Very often, commentators on the news breaking these stories will finish off with: “Nothing good ever happens after midnight”.

Let’s move to the weight control arena.  During a long-term weight control journey, what “good” can you in the late evening/midnight/early morning hours in the kitchen or pantry?  When food or drinks are ingested late at night/early morning, do these tend to be Phase One-compatible foods/drinks?  Hardly: most often if we are up late at night this either means we are attending a late night social gathering, stressed and cannot sleep or have made the mistake of getting caught up binge watching some show or surfing the internet.  The tendencies at these times are to drink alcohol, snack on carbs or otherwise eat/drink sources that derail weight control efforts.

Keep your eating of meals and snacks to no later than 8 PM.  And remember…Nothing good happens after midnight (when it comes to weight control!).
