Shedding Some Light On Weight Control?

My deceased father, when he was alive, would have a twice a year behavior pattern that produced incessant teasing by my brothers and I. Al Posner would start changing the clocks way ahead of the 2 AM actual change that occurs either moving the clock back in the fall and one hour ahead in the spring. My Dad would have all of the house clocks changed no later than Saturday afternoon. I sort of keep the tradition going by ensuring that all clocks and my watch are changed Saturday evening. Now, there are very few “clocks” to change, as our smart phones, tablets and computers all change the time for us.

So, now we are headed to darker mornings again BUT more sunlight time into the evening. Culminating by the end of June when it still is somewhat light at 9 PM, we will have evening light well past 7 PM and becoming later and later before it is dark.

Therein lies the opportunity to include more physical activity as part of your weight control efforts. As the temperatures become warmer and the light stays later, the after dinner time will very soon offer up the enhanced ability to take brisk walks/jog/bicycle and perhaps other physical activities that we simply will not do in the dark/colder times.

There are seasonal variations in many areas of the country (including ours) that will affect outdoor activities. When the seasons occur that provide the opportunity to capitalize on the more welcoming weather/light, we should take advantage of this. Start gearing up to take advantage of the later sun downs and use the light to your weight control advantage.
