Take Care Of YOU!

Upon a mutual departure from spending time speaking with one another, a very common last line said is:  “Take Care…”. Okay, so what exactly does that mean?  Take care of your business?  Take care of your family or basically take care of yourself?

Very often, people find themselves “taking care” of others.  Obviously, when your children are young, there is lots of custodial care required…such things as driving kids to activities, helping with homework, preparing meals etc.  Even when the kids become older such as college age and beyond, the “taking care” involves lots of financial support.  Working folks need to “take care” of the needs of their businesses/responsibilities of their jobs.  Many baby boomers find themselves taking care of their elderly, ill parents.

Who takes care of “You”?  Sometimes you may find yourself asking that same question and find difficulty finding an answer.  Taking care of “You” starts with YOU taking care of yourself.  When you find yourself being worked to the bone at your job, ask yourself the question whether if God forbid you became ill, would the business/agency close? Of course not…life would go on without you.

No offense to us males, but females tend to always place themselves on the bottom rung of the “priority” pole.  Children, spouses, relatives, work…all of these get taken care of first, and then, if there is time, perhaps then focus can be placed on counting portions, planning meals, getting gym time in etc.

The point of this entry:  Please take the time and effort to take care of “YOU”.  By doing so, you will be much better positioned to take care of everyone and everything else that you endeavor.
