What Are Your Food Weaknesses?

Okay, truth be told, my major food weakness is soft pretzels; not the mall greasy ones that leave our fingers dripping from the fat, but rather, those wonderful soft pretzels Philadelphia is famous for.  Any trip of mine that involves being close to a Philadelphia Pretzel Factory franchise will result in me diverting off the fastest route to pick up a large stash of those soft, warm pretzels.   I like mine with no mustard but I believe many of my fellow soft pretzel aficionados enjoy dipping theirs in deli-style mustard.

Alright, enough about me and my food weakness, let’s have some introspective time and examine what are your food weaknesses.  I do know may people that need to keep a stash of chocolate within constant reach….in the desk at work, in the car, etc.  Patients have told me about fast food weaknesses; such as the inability to drive by a Mickey D’s and not imagine diving into those hot, tasty fries.

During a successful long-term weight control journey it will be an absolute requirement that you limit some/all of your food/drink weaknesses.   This does not mean that you must eliminate these foods/drinks entirely,  However, what you cannot do is keep ingesting the same amounts of these derailing items and expect the scale to go down.

The first step:  Identify what exactly are your food/drink weaknesses AND in reality, just how much of these are you eating/drinking.  Then, proceed to develop a game plan of perhaps prioritizing just how “important” each of these are to you, eliminate entirely the bottom half of your priority list items and develop a game plan as to how to limit by 50% the others.

We all have food “weaknesses” that will impact on long-term weight control.   We can control the intake of these and be successful in our journey to a higher level of health and happiness.  However, sometimes these “weaknesses” will find ways of talking to us, perhaps even singing to us….enjoy the video!
